Your event was Thursday night. The thank you email is supposed to go out Monday morning. You email the photographer to ask when the gallery will be ready, and the answer comes back: four to six weeks.
That is usually the moment somebody realizes nobody asked about this before the contract was signed. Event photography turnaround time is one of the last things organizations check and one of the first things that goes wrong, because a gallery that arrives after you needed it cannot do the job you bought it for.
Here is what is actually normal for an organizational event, why the number you keep hearing comes from an industry that has nothing to do with yours, and what to ask before you sign anything.
