We photographed a mural that still doesn\u2019t exist.<\/p>\n

It was on the wall at Gallery 344 the whole night, a printed rendering of what would go down on the court at Gold Star Mothers Park once construction wrapped. A glowing gold star at center court. Constellations stretched from corner to corner. Laurel framing the sidelines, echoing the wreath from the Gold Star Mothers emblem itself. Michael Talbot, the Boston muralist behind it, called the piece Realizing Your(e) Gold, and it was the centerpiece of Conversations With Time, his exhibition at Cambridge Arts\u2019 Gallery 344.<\/p>\n

Cambridge Arts hired us to photograph the show and sit down with Michael for an interview. Walking in, we had no idea the mural on that wall wasn\u2019t going anywhere anytime soon.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Before the doors opened, we did a personal portrait of Michael, just him, before the room filled with people. That was the first time meeting him in person. My brother Davel ran the video, I had the stills, and together we caught the interview once we sat him down.<\/p>\n

He wrote something in the exhibit\u2019s guestbook before anyone else had walked in, the kind of small quiet moment you only catch if you\u2019re already in the room early.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
